Intel Integrated Chipset Pixel Shader Error Fix

Some Intel Integrated Graphics cards are having the problem of not properly loading the game due to a Pixel Shader 2.0 Error even though they are stated to support upto pixel shader 3.0. We have verified that reinstalling the latest drivers from Intel has solved this problem and makes the game playable. To reinstall the latest driver from Intel, follow these steps:

  1. Find out which chipset you have by opening a dxdiag - Go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt
  2. In the command prompt, type "dxdiag" and a DirectX Diagnostic Tool will pop up, then go under the Display Tab, in the Device Section, your video card will be displayed. Take note of which chipset you have. (Ex. Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family)
  3. Go to Intel's download center here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx In the sidebar go to the Chipsets -> Laptop Chipsets (or Desktop) and choose the correct one for your device. You will then be asked to select your operating system and then you will be directed to the download page where you will download the regular .exe driver.
  4. Once you have the driver downloaded, you will need to uninstall your old Video Display driver either through the Uninstall Programs window, or through the device manager. Once it has confirmed that the driver has been uninstalled, it will ask you to restart your computer. Select Not Now and do not restart your computer.

*WARNING* do not restart your computer before you install the new driver.

  5. Before restarting your computer, install the new driver by opening the .exe driver file that you downloaded from Intel. Once everything is completely installed, you may restart your computer only after the new display driver has been installed.
  6. Once this has been successfully completed, you should no longer have the Pixel Shader error and you will be able to log into the game.

*Note* This has been verified to work for the Intel 965 integrated chipsets and above, several players are still unable to play with 945 and below
